Fabrics & sizing
All our fabrics are UK made rather than imported. Although this means they might not be the cheapest, it means they are of the best quality and therefore do not compromise our workmanship and years of experience in manufacture of waterproof clothing. In times past we have tried various imported fabrics, and never found anything as good as Good Old British Made! Whilst we are very proud of this manufacturing ethic, the proof is in the quality and durability of our products.
Our materials come in different weights, degrees of breathability and a variety of colours:
- 4oz pu coated nylon - best quality, polyurethane coated nylon
- 8oz Neoprene coated nylon - heavy duty, ultra tough, durable fabric for
serious weather conditions.
- 4oz Exeat coated nylon - a hydrophilic coating which permits water vapour to pass through the fabric from body side to outside thus keeping the wearer comfortable and dry.
- Vente - a 3-layer laminated fabric with a breathable membrane. Excellent protection and performance.
- Ventile - 100% cotton, quiet, comfortable, wind and weatherproof. The secret is in the tight weave which, when rained on swells to further increase its resistance to water. It also has a light Teflon coating to ensure run - off of water. Because it is cotton it breathes better than anything.
Sizing
The following sizings may be used as a guide, although it must be remembered that there may be much individual variation, particularly in children. Chest and leg measurements are body measurements (not those of the garment). Waterproof shells are amply sized to allow plenty of room for clothing underneath. Leg lengths are deliberately a little on the short side so the overtrouser sits on the boot top rather than allowing them to get scuffed under the heel.
